More than 170 flights were delayed across Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) on Sunday, September 13. According to FlightAware data, 122 delays were recorded at DXB and 51 at AUH by 3:30pm UAE time.
The disruption is affecting passengers travelling both into and out of the UAE. Because Dubai is one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs, even a relatively large number of delays can affect thousands of passengers, including people travelling to India, Europe, Asia and other Middle Eastern destinations.
🛫 Two flydubai flights cancelled
Alongside the delays, two flydubai services between Dubai and Bahrain were cancelled:
- FZ23: Dubai → Bahrain
- FZ24: Bahrain → Dubai
These flights are also sold by Emirates under separate flight codes EK2016 and EK2017. The tracking records did not give a specific reason for these two cancellations.
🌍 Why is this happening?
The UAE has experienced several flight disruptions recently due to a combination of air-traffic-control problems, technical issues and weather-related incidents. The National specifically noted that Sunday’s disruption follows earlier problems during the week, including a UK air-traffic-control shutdown.
This doesn’t mean that Dubai Airport is closed. Flights are continuing to operate, but individual flights can be delayed or cancelled.

If you’re flying from Dubai today, the safest thing is to check your flight status immediately before leaving for DXB. flydubai itself advises passengers to check their flight status and operational updates before heading to the airport.
So basically, bhai, airport band nahi hai — operations chal rahe hain, but delays kaafi zyada hain. If someone has a flight today, they shouldn’t assume the original departure time is still valid.
