Etihad Rail’s Dubai Station to Open on September 30

One of the biggest transportation developments for Dubai is just around the corner. Etihad Rail’s Dubai Al Yalayis Station is scheduled to open on September 30, 2026. The station will bring Dubai into the UAE’s national passenger railway network and is expected to make intercity travel much easier.

The station is located in Al Yalayis, in the southern part of Dubai. One of its biggest advantages is its connection with the Dubai Metro Red Line. A dedicated footbridge will connect Al Yalayis Station with Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station, allowing passengers to transfer between the Metro and Etihad Rail without needing a long road journey.

The new rail service will also make travelling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi considerably faster. The Dubai–Abu Dhabi journey is expected to take around 57 minutes. This could be particularly useful for people who live in one emirate and work in another, because it offers an alternative to driving on the highway for the entire journey.

The importance of the station goes beyond just Dubai–Abu Dhabi travel. Etihad Rail is developing a national passenger network connecting cities and regions across the UAE. The network is being introduced in phases, with additional stations planned as the service expands. The Dubai station will therefore become an important part of the UAE’s wider public-transport system.

📍 Why this matters for people living in Dubai

For residents, the Metro + Etihad Rail combination could be especially useful. Someone living near the Metro network could potentially take the Metro to Jumeirah Golf Estates, walk across the dedicated connection and then take the train towards Abu Dhabi and other destinations. This could reduce dependence on taxis and private cars for long-distance travel.

The station could also benefit areas around Dubai Investment Park, Al Furjan and Green Community, because they are relatively close to the new rail infrastructure. It also strengthens connectivity towards the wider Dubai South area.
